INTRODUCTION

A Blog is a journal kept on the  Internet. It is frequently updated. It contains all sorts of information the writer wishes to express and share. It generally consists of texts and images. The comments and feed back the visitors leave on his blog can be read. A blog is also known as web log. People who create blog are called bloggers. The act of creating blogs is called blogging.
English teaching blogs list those teacher or teaching blogs which we think merit reading. The blogs are all very different, but all interesting in one way or other. Some look at the day today life of a teacher , others at teaching techniques , materials and methods.
In English language the blog is playing a vital role in the development of students.

TYPES OF ENGLISH TEACHER BLOGS

Types of blogs used in English language teaching has outlined three types as follows;
1.      Tutor blog
2.      Class blog
3.      Learner blog

The tutor blog is run by the teacher of a class. The content of tutor blog can be limited to syllabus , course information , homework, assignments etc. or the teacher may choose to write about his or her life , sharing reflections about the local culture and language to stimulate online and in class discussions. In this type of blogs students are normally restricted to being able to write comments to the teachers posts.
The class blog is a shared space with teacher and students being able to write in the main area. It is best used as a collaborative discussion space, an extra curricular extention of the classroom. . Students can be encouraged to reflect in more depth  in writing on themes , touched
upon  the class.Students are given a greater sense of freedom and involvement than with the tutor blog.
The learner blog is a third type of blog and it requires more time and effort from the teacher . It involves giving each student an individual blog. The benefit of this is that this becomes the students own personal online space. Students can be encouraged to write frequently about what interest them and can post comments on other student’s blogs.

ADVANTAGES

·        Using a blog makes education focussed on demand.
·        Using a blog encourages learner to work or learn consciously.
·        Blog makes learning independent of time and place.
·        Blogging makes the educational society with updatings in knowledge.
·        Teachers innovations can reach the students through blogging.
·        Blogging helps to improve communication competencies.
·        Blogging makes learning more informal.
·        Sharing of knowledge is the backbone of blogging.
·        Blogging encourages different media.
·        Educational blogs helps in moulding new citizens of tomorrow.

Teachers who use blog in their class consider it as a useful tool if it used appropriately. One of the main advantages for the teacher of using authentic texts is that it is possible to find interesting and relevant.
When syllabus is changed so many problems occur .Here English teacher blogs help teachers to a great extend such as for pooling resources and the like .As we are teaching English we are not able to get more resources. If one teacher get one resource they can share it with others and we can access from every corner of the world. Also English teachers face so many difficulties for transacting content and they can ask doubts through they needn’t know each other and can share ideas. English is a subject with very limited resources when we access some blogs we get face to face contact with others.
For example kuetef is a blog for B.Ed teachers. Through this blog any B.Ed teacher can ask doubts share ideas and resources etc. Some teachers put vocabulary and grammar games which are very useful for teaching the content.
Rather than the above said advantages, English teacher blogs help the teachers and students like providing extra reading practices for students as online student learner journals that can be read by their peers, guiding students to online resources increasing the sense of community in a class , encouraging a process writing approach as well as an online portfolio of students written works.
The use of blogs has become popular in educational institutions including public schools and colleges. English teacher blogs are effective for English teachers for sharing information and tips among co-workers, pooling out resources and so on. On the whole, English teacher blogs are definitely a great ocean of resources and support for all English teachers.
