The story dealt with an interesting story of the life of a
soldier who is very sincere and dedicated to his work .He had a vast knowledge
about everything and thus he was named as the professor. The first paragraph
describes about the physical appearance of Private Quelch. Musketry, sergeant are
the newly introduced words.

develop the four fold language skills- listening, speaking, reading and
writing .

ENTRY ACTIVITY
Teacher asks students to say the name of films which tells the main
theme about the life of soldiers and wars. Teacher writes the names on black
board.
LINK TALK
Today we are going to learn about the life of a soldier who is very
sincere and dedicated to his work. The name of the story is The Man Who Knew
Too Much by Alexander Baron. Teacher shows the picture of Alexander Baron on
laptop. Let us know what was the
incident happened to him, shall we?
MICROPROCESSING OF INPUT
Teacher asks the students to read the first five
paragraphs silently and asks them to mark five difficult words which they can
ask to anyone of his friends to guess the meaning of those words. Then
teacher shows the meanings of those words through laptop. Musketry, lanky,
frowning, horn-rimmed , spectacles ,rifle ,bullet etc. on laptop.
CAN YOU IDENTIFY?
Teacher shows the pictures of different weapons and powerful machines
and bombs used in a war in a laptop and asks them to identify those weapons
they are familiar with.
LET US ACT
Teacher asks students to act the above mentioned words like musketry
, lanky etc. on laptop.
DISCOURSE CONSTRUCTION
PAIR WORK
Teacher shows the video clipping of a war from a film and asks
students to watch clearly. The after effects of war, war front, destructions
caused by war are shown through this clippings.
LET US DO
Teacher gives some newspaper headlines to students and asks one or
two students to read aloud. Teacher asks them to sit in pairs and makes them
to prepare a newspaper report by expanding these headlines.
GROUP WORK
Teacher shows the video clippings of the pathetic life of soldiers
and the evil effects of war through laptop. Asks students to think and
write,do we need war? Teacher appreciates and gives a star for the best group
who presents the answer.
HAVE A LOOK
Teacher makes students into groups and asks them to perform a tableau
against the cruelty towards war.
REVIEW
Teacher summarises the main points in the story through a small
discussion by teacher and students.
FOLLOW UP ACTIVITY
Collect the newspaper cuttings related to war and make an album.
